Professional Training on Solar Photovoltaic Installation and Supervision (SPVIS)

The training was initiated and designed by the Center for Renewable Energy Research in collaboration with the German International Cooperation (GIZ) as part of the MOU signed and in consideration of the emergence of solar photovoltaic technology in Katsina State and the Country at large. The training was organized to provide the required man power and expertise to address the challenges of the maintenance of solar facilities installed in the hospitals, water plants, street lights, etc in the State and across the country.

The training was organized for candidates with Degree/HND/ND in Electrical; Electronics; Mechanical; Mechatronics; Physical Sciences and Renewable Energy for the duration of 4 weeks

The training was designed to among other issues:

  1. impart the requisite knowledge in the design of vast array of solar PV systems in various end-use to meet the specific load demand;
  2. impart the requisite knowledge in the selection of appropriate solar PV technologies to suit various end-use applications;
  3. impart the requisite knowledge in the installation of solar PV systems in line with the international operational safety and technical standards;
  4. enable participants acquire skills to supervise team of technicians for large scale solar PV installation; and
  5. Enable participants perform economic analysis of the solar PV systems employed in different end-use applications.
